The Synth Amp project was a specific request from a client. We were asked to design and build a battery powered, lightweight single system to house a small amplifier, speaker, and two rack synthesizers. In other words, this is a small keyboard amp built into a custom case to include a gel-cell battery and two music synthesizers. This particular client is a wind synth (wind controller) player, using the rig for pit orchestra and street performances while playing the WX5 and VL70 music synthesizer. The second synthesizer space was built with a removable fascia to allow racking a second synth, or hold an iPod. The entire system can run from the 12V gel-cell, or plug into an normal AC wall outlet. A switch built into the unit determines if the rig is powered from AC or via battery.
